USASuspected Explosive Device Prompts Temporary Closure of Kent City Hall Campus

Kent Police Department announced that a suspected military-grade undetonated explosive device brought to the city’s downtown campus led to the temporary closure of several municipal buildings Monday.

According to officials, the device was safely removed, and buildings are expected to reopen shortly.

The incident prompted the closure of the City Hall campus at 220 4th Ave. S in Kent, including City Hall, the Centennial Building, and the Police Station. Authorities also shut down W. Gowe Street between 4th Avenue South and 2nd Avenue South as a precaution.

Police said a bomb squad was dispatched to the scene after the device was reported. No injuries have been reported.

Officials stated they will provide further updates once all buildings and affected streets are fully reopened.
