Hundreds of leaders and activists of Nepal’s pro-monarchy Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) on Sunday held a protest rally near the prime minister’s official residence and Parliament House, demanding the restoration of the monarchy and establishing Nepal as a Hindu state.
Around 1,500 protesters gathered in Bijuli Bazar-Baneshwor area on Sunday and raised slogans such as Down with the republic system, we want back the monarchy, Down with the corrupt government, establish Nepal as a Hindu nation.
The protest was led by Rashtriya Prajatantra Party president Rajendra, senior leader Pashupati Shamsher Rana and former Inspector General of Police Dhruv Bahadur Pradhan, among others. The protesters said they would defy the government’s order and enter restricted areas.
