Trump has taken this decision accusing the university of increasing hatred against Jews and failing to stop demonstrations in support of Palestine. A few days ago, the Trump administration wrote a letter to Harvard University demanding extensive government and leadership reforms in the university and changes in its admission policies. The government had demanded the university to conduct an audit to diversify the campus and revoke the recognition of some student clubs.
However, the university has objected to Trump’s demand. University President Alan Garber said, ‘The university will not give up its independence or constitutional rights.’ It is worth noting that this is the first time that there has been talk of ending the tax-exempt status of a major university.
