The U.S. Marshals Service has arrested a Seattle homicide suspect, Isaiah Andrews, who was mistakenly released from a California jail in October 2025.
Andrews, 20, was initially arrested on October 18, 2025, by the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in Antioch, California, just days after the fatal shooting of Theodore Wheeler in North Seattle’s Northgate neighborhood. However, due to an error, jail staff released him only three days later, allowing him to evade authorities for months.
Following an extensive search, U.S. Marshals located Andrews in St. Louis, Missouri, on April 1, 2026, and arrested him without incident. He is now awaiting extradition back to Seattle, Washington, where he faces a 1st-degree murder warrant.
The case stems from an October 15, 2025 shooting in Northgate, where Seattle police responded to reports of gunfire and found a 20-year-old man suffering from a fatal chest wound in a hotel parking lot. Despite emergency response efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Seattle Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
