US President Donald Trump said he has asked Apple Inc.’s Tim Cook to stop building plants in India as the iPhone maker plans to diversify manufacturing outside China. “I had a little problem with Tim Cook yesterday,” Trump said, referring to a conversation with the Apple chief executive officer during his state visit to Qatar.

He is building everywhere in India. I don’t want you building in India.’ As a result of this discussion, Trump said that Apple will ‘increase its production in the US.’ According to reports from news agencies, the US President said, “We are not interested in you doing building work in India. India can take care of itself.”

Trump said India has one of the highest tariff barriers in the world and it is very difficult to sell American products in the world’s most populous country. However, he said India has offered to reduce tariffs on American goods,
