USAWashington State Marks Day of Civic Engagement on September 17

RENTON, Wash. — Communities across Washington were encouraged to participate in civic life on September 17 as the state observed Washington’s Day of Civic Engagement.

The City of Renton highlighted the observance by encouraging residents to take small steps that can strengthen their communities. Civic engagement can include registering to vote, attending local government meetings, volunteering, learning about community issues, or joining a local board, committee or commission.

The day is part of Washington’s broader America’s 250th commemoration and aims to encourage residents to become more involved in their communities and local government.

City officials encouraged residents looking for ways to participate to explore available civic resources and opportunities in their communities.
