Bellevue, WA — October 10, 2025:
Drivers in the Eastside area should plan ahead this weekend as the southbound lanes of Interstate 405 (I-405) between Bellevue and Renton will be fully closed from October 10 through October 13, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT).
The closure is part of ongoing construction and maintenance work along the busy corridor. During the shutdown, drivers should expect significant backups and detours. WSDOT urges travelers to delay discretionary trips or drive during off-peak hours to avoid congestion.
A detour route will be in place, directing traffic from I-405 to Coal Creek Parkway SE, Sunset Boulevard NE, and NE 30th Street, reconnecting to the freeway south of the closure zone.
WSDOT also noted that the work schedule could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or Mariners playoff games, which could increase regional traffic demand.
Motorists are advised to check real-time traffic updates through the WSDOT app, local media, or the agency’s social media feeds before traveling.
