A Hindu minister of state in Pakistan was attacked by protesters in Sindh. Khair Das Kohistani, Minister of State for Religious Affairs in the government led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, was passing through Sindh’s Thatta district on Saturday
Then tomatoes and potatoes were thrown at his convoy. Officials said that Kohistani was not harmed in the attack. The protesters were opposing the federal government’s controversial irrigation canal projects, which they argued would reduce the flow of rivers vital for irrigation in the southern province.
Prime Minister Shahbaz strongly condemned the attack on Kohistani and assured him of a thorough investigation of the incident. He said, “Attack on public representatives is unacceptable. Those involved in the incident will be given severe punishment.”
