POLITICS & LAWSWhy are American experts considering Qatar's 'luxury gift' a threat?

Qatar is going to gift a luxurious Boeing 747 plane worth Rs 3400 crore to US President Donald Trump. This gift from Qatar has increased the anxiety in the US intelligence department. Experts from US security agencies are expressing serious concern about this gift.

He says that any such gift, especially from a foreign government, could pose a serious threat of espionage, surveillance and hacking of communication systems. According to the report, Former acting Homeland Security official John Cohen said in this matter, ‘First of all the military will have to make a lot of efforts to ensure that the plane has been built safely or not.

Additionally, its intelligence gathering capabilities are not compromised, and it is designed to be able to absorb the sensitive communications and countermeasures capabilities that are present in any aircraft, such as Air Force One.

Thad Troy, former station chief at the Central Intelligence Agency, said of the matter, ‘If we had built the plane knowing it was going to a foreign government, we would probably have spied on it. US law strictly prohibits accepting such gifts from foreign countries. The American expert further said that the plane will have to be completely modified to make it safe. He further said that no matter how many changes are made, he is not in favor of the US President boarding a Qatar jet.
