China said on Friday it was considering US proposals for talks to reduce tariffs. Its door was open to negotiations, but they would only begin if Washington first removed tariffs on Chinese goods.
The Chinese Commerce Ministry said in a statement, “The US has recently tried to convey messages to China through relevant parties on several occasions and expressed its willingness to negotiate with China on tariff issues, so China is considering it.”
The ministry spokesperson said in a statement that the tariff and trade war was started by the US. If the US wants to negotiate, it should show seriousness, prepare for it and take concrete steps on issues such as correcting its wrong practices and removing unilateral tariffs.
