Will US-Iran relations improve? Nuclear talks will be held in Rome

INTERNATIONALWill US-Iran relations improve? Nuclear talks will be held in Rome

Iran’s next round of nuclear talks with the US will be held in Rome this weekend, Iran confirmed on Wednesday. There was earlier confusion over where the talks would be held. This information has come to light when Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has formally approved the resignation of one of his vice presidents, who was Tehran’s chief negotiator in the 2015 nuclear deal.

Rafael Mariano Grassi of the International Atomic Energy Agency also arrived in the Islamic Republic on Wednesday. Their talks could include negotiations over what access IAEA inspectors might have under any proposed deal.

Oman will again mediate the talks in Rome on Saturday. Oman’s foreign minister played a role as mediator between the two sides in the first round of talks held in Muscat last weekend. Let us tell you, the importance of the talks has increased even more amid the ongoing animosity between the two countries. US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened that if an agreement is not reached, he will launch air strikes targeting Iran’s nuclear program.
