SEATTLE, Wash. — A 39-year-old woman was arrested Sunday evening after witnesses told police they saw her blowing drug smoke into an infant’s face on a South Seattle street, authorities said.
According to the Seattle Police Department, multiple 911 callers reported the woman in the 3600 block of 33rd Avenue South around 6:30 p.m., allegedly smoking narcotics from tinfoil and exhaling the smoke toward the baby. Witnesses also said she roughly tossed the child into a stroller.
When officers arrived, they found the woman lying on the ground holding the infant, who was partially unclothed and without a diaper. Police noted tinfoil and a lighter nearby, along with burned foil inside the woman’s bag.
Officers roused the woman, at which point the child began moving and appeared conscious. Seattle Fire Department medics evaluated the baby at the scene. The woman reportedly threatened to assault firefighters during the incident.
Police said the woman became combative during the investigation, kicking an officer several times with her metal prosthetic leg. The officer sustained minor injuries.
The suspect, who had multiple outstanding warrants for assault, theft, property destruction, vehicle trespassing, and making false statements, was arrested for investigation of Reckless Endangerment and Assault. She was booked into the King County Jail.
The infant was placed into the custody of Child Protective Services (CPS) for safety.
The incident number is 2025-291766.
