Kent police arrested a 39-year-old Kent man after an officer observed him riding an unlicensed mini bike on a public roadway without the required equipment, including a helmet.
According to the Kent Police Department, the driver initially stopped near a gas station but attempted to walk away from the bike after being contacted by Officer Lyon. The officer stopped him and continued the investigation.
Police said the man was carrying a pack containing a 9mm SIG Sauer handgun and ammunition. Officers determined that he was prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a previous felony conviction. Police also said the suspect had a concealed pistol license, which was subsequently determined to be invalid.
The man was booked into the KCJ for unlawful possession of a firearm and was also cited for obstructing and driving without a valid license. Police said he received additional citations related to the mini bike, including operating without required equipment and failing to yield.
