In India The Waqf Amendment Bill 2024 (Waqf Amendment Bill LIVE Updates) will be introduced in the Lok Sabha today i.e. on Wednesday. There are preparations to discuss and vote on the bill today itself. The opposition demanded 12 hours for discussion. But the government has given only 8 hours.
During this time, there is bound to be uproar in the House, because the opposition is against the bill. BJP, JDU, TDP, Shiv Sena, LJP, RLD and HAM have issued whips to their MPs. While the government is calling the bill a corrective step in the interest of Muslims, the opposition has come out in strong opposition. Opposition parties say that the bill is a violation of the Constitution and is against religious freedom.
Union Minister George Kurien described the bill as transparent. He said that it is very transparent, as it is related to land and property. All communities support this amendment bill. We can see that poor Muslims and the middle class also support this bill.
