The Trump administration in America has made a new plan to force illegal immigrants to leave the country themselves. Under this scheme, such people will be included in the Social Security Administration’s “Death Master List”, which generally contains names of deceased persons.
This would deactivate the Social Security Numbers (SSN) of these immigrants and deprive them of government benefits and financial services. This information was given by an administration official, who told Reuters on the condition of anonymity. This plan will apply to those immigrants who were legally granted temporary status in the US under the Biden administration, but now that status has been revoked.
Social Security Number is necessary for paying taxes and availing government services in America. Without it, a person cannot open a bank account, get a credit card or do many other important financial tasks.
The aim of this plan is that when people living illegally find themselves completely cut off from the economy, they will leave America on their own. According to the report, this plan is another step towards increasing the use of sensitive data by the Trump administration.
