Haryana Assembly member and former Olympic wrestler Vinesh Phogat has decided to take the four crore rupees offered by the Saini government. Under the Haryana State Sports Policy, Vinesh was given three options, out of which she agreed to take cash.
He wrote a letter to the Sports Department on Tuesday and informed about his decision. Julana MLA Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the final of the 50 kg wrestling category at the Olympics last year due to 100 grams more weight. After this, a wave of sympathy arose for her across the country.
Then Naib Singh Saini had announced to give Vinesh Phogat the same respect as the player who won the silver medal. The CM had said that he would not let Vinesh’s respect diminish. After returning from the Olympics, Vinesh Phogat joined the Congress and won from Julana constituency in the assembly elections.
Under the State Sports Policy, Vinesh Phogat was given three options. First, a cash amount of Rs 4 crore, second, a Group A government job and third, a plot under the Haryana Urban Development Authority. It is said that Vinesh Phogat is currently an MLA, so she cannot do a government job. The cash prize will give her the freedom to buy a plot as per her need.
