Anti-Israel protesters looted and vandalised an outlet of American fast food restaurant KFC in Pakistan’s Punjab. A KFC employee was killed in the attack by radical Islamist group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Sheikhpura, about 50 km from Lahore. According to the police, a large group of TLP workers attacked the KFC outlet early in the morning. The attackers ransacked the restaurant and opened fire on the staff. During this, a 40-year-old employee, Asif Nawaz, died, while the rest of the staff fled the shop.
An officer said that by the time the police reached the spot, the rioters had fled. More than 3 dozen suspects have been detained in this case and the investigation is ongoing. A day earlier, TLP workers had also targeted a KFC outlet in Rawalpindi and damaged property. Similar attacks took place in Karachi and Lahore last week, where KFC outlets were set on fire.
