Cricket will be played at the Pomona Fairgrounds in South California in the 2028 Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles. A temporary cricket stadium will be built here for this. The organizing committee announced this on Tuesday.
Pomona’s fairgrounds, known as the Fairplex, is about 50 km east of Los Angeles. It is a 500-acre event complex that has hosted the Los Angeles County Fair since 1922. The venue is known for concerts, trade shows, sports and cultural events. Events are held here throughout the year.
Last year, during the T20 World Cup held in USA and West Indies, the India-Pakistan match was played in New York. A pop-up stadium was built for this. Apart from this, World Cup matches were also played in Central Broward Stadium in Lauderhill and Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas.
A total of 6 teams each will participate in both men’s and women’s categories of cricket in the Olympic Games 2028. The International Olympic Committee has already announced this. All six teams in both categories can select 15 members in their respective squads.
