US President Donald Trump said on Monday he would announce a 25 percent tariff on all steel and aluminum imports, including from Canada and Mexico. Additionally, other import duties will also be imposed later this week
“There will be a 25 percent duty on any steel coming into the United States,” he told reporters on Sunday aboard Air Force One en route from Florida to New Orleans for the Super Bowl.
This decision of Trump will have the biggest impact on Canada and Mexico. In fact, Canada and Mexico are America’s biggest partners in steel trade. Canada is the largest supplier of aluminum to America. In such a situation, Canada’s profits will decrease and America will have to pay more taxes.
A few days ago, Trump had announced to impose 25 percent tariff on Canada, which was later postponed for a month. In such a situation, this new decision of Trump may increase the tension of Canada’s anti-India Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
