Seattle, WA — Detectives with the Seattle Police Department are investigating a violent machete attack that left a 53-year-old man seriously injured in North Seattle on Sunday night.
Around 8:00 p.m. on October 12, officers responded to Swedish Medical Center in Ballard after the victim arrived with multiple deep lacerations to his head, forearm, and hand.
Investigators learned that the assault occurred near Northwest 46th Street and 9th Avenue Northwest, where the victim had met his ex-girlfriend to discuss money. During the confrontation, her current boyfriend reportedly attacked the man with a machete, causing severe injuries.
The victim managed to flee the scene with help from a friend, who drove him to the hospital for treatment.
Police later located the crime scene and discovered a 20-foot blood trail, collecting evidence for analysis. The suspect had fled the area before officers arrived.
With assistance from the Lynnwood Police Department, officers searched for the suspect, who is believed to live in the Lynnwood area, but he remains at large.
