USADUI Driver Arrested After Crashing Stolen Truck in West Seattle

Seattle, WA —
Seattle police arrested a 31-year-old man late Thursday night after he crashed a stolen truck and tried to flee from officers in West Seattle.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on November 6, officers patrolling near Fauntleroy Way Southwest and Southwest Juneau Street spotted a truck speeding before it lost control on the wet roadway and slammed into a tree.

When the responding officer approached, the driver bolted from the scene on foot. After a brief chase, police apprehended the suspect, who reportedly showed signs of alcohol impairment.

Investigators found the truck’s ignition damaged and a pair of pliers on the floorboard—common indicators of vehicle theft. A records check confirmed the truck had been reported stolen out of Tukwila, Washington. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.

While in custody, police said the suspect became aggressive, kicking the patrol car’s partition and making shooting threats toward officers. He was transported to a nearby hospital for a court-authorized blood draw to determine his blood alcohol content.

After processing, the suspect was booked into jail on multiple charges, including:

  • Possession of a Stolen Vehicle

  • Driving Under the Influence

  • Hit and Run

  • Obstructing a Police Officer

  • Reckless Driving

  • Driving While License Suspended

  • Harassment

Detectives from the General Investigations Unit have been assigned to the case.
