City of Kent Launches Annual Community Food Drive, Open to Public Through December 2

USACity of Kent Launches Annual Community Food Drive, Open to Public Through December 2

KENT, WA — The City of Kent has kicked off its annual employee food drive, expanding the effort this year by inviting the entire community to participate. The drive runs from Monday, November 3, through Tuesday, December 2, with donations accepted at Kent City Hall, located at 220 4th Ave S., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Traditionally organized by city employees each November, the food drive supports local agencies that provide essential resources to families in need. This year’s effort benefits Kent Food Bank and Project Access, two organizations that rely on community support to serve residents facing food insecurity.

Organizers are requesting donations of non-perishable and non-expired food items. A list of the most-needed items includes:

  • Peanut butter and alternatives

  • Canned proteins

  • Canned beans

  • Canned fruit and vegetables

  • Canned baby formula and food

  • Chili and stew

  • Canned soup

For those unable to visit drop-off locations, the city has shared additional ways the public can contribute, including online support links and local food resource directories such as the Emergency Food Network, Hunger Free Washington, and Food Lifeline.

Residents can also locate free neighborhood pantries or call 2-1-1 for food assistance information.

A promotional image released by the city features various canned goods and highlights the drive’s dates and purpose: supporting Project Access and Kent Food Bank.

The city encourages all who are able to participate and help support local families during the holiday season.
