SEATTLE — A 17-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Tuesday evening in the Rainier Vista neighborhood and was later taken into custody at the hospital on unrelated robbery charges, according to Seattle police.
The shooting was reported around 7:10 p.m. near 30th Avenue South and South Adams Street. Officers arrived to find the teen suffering from gunshot wounds to his back. Police administered initial medical aid before Seattle Fire Department medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.
During the investigation, detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU), in coordination with the Robbery Unit, determined that the teen was wanted in connection with a separate robbery case. Officers placed him into custody, and he is currently under hospital guard.
GVRU detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
