Seattle police have arrested a 31-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in South Seattle on November 17. The arrest was made on December 1 by the Renton Police Department, which located and detained the suspect before transferring him to Seattle Police Headquarters for questioning by detectives. He was later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Murder.
Assistant Chief Nicole Powell praised the work of homicide detectives and thanked Renton Police for their assistance, noting their “countless hours” spent investigating violent crimes and their commitment to bringing justice to victims’ families.
The homicide occurred on the night of November 17 inside an apartment building in the 3600 block of 33rd Avenue South. Officers responding around 10:00 p.m. found a man in his 60s suffering from a gunshot wound. Seattle Fire Department medics attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene.
The suspect fled before officers arrived, prompting an extensive investigation. Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation units processed the scene, interviewed witnesses, and gathered evidence. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim and determine the official cause and manner of death.
