KENT, Wash. — The Kent Police Department has announced a new traffic safety grant opportunity aimed at reducing speeding and distracted driving along the busy 140th/132nd Avenue SE corridor.

In partnership with the King County Target Zero Coalition, the department is encouraging businesses, community organizations, schools, and government agencies to apply for funding to support projects that improve driver safety.

According to the department, the grants specifically target safety enhancements along 140th/132nd from SR 169 to SR 18, a stretch that runs through Renton, Kent, Auburn, and unincorporated areas of King County.

Key Details of the Grant Program

  • Goal: Fund projects that help reduce speeding or distracted driving.

  • Application Deadline: January 9, 2026, by 11:59 PM.

  • Draft Submissions Due: December 19, 2025, by 5:00 PM.
