USARising River Forces Bridge Closures in Renton

RENTON, Wash. — Several bridges in Renton experienced closures due to rising river levels, prompting warnings from local authorities.

According to updates from the Renton Police Department and City of Renton Emergency Management, water levels forced multiple bridge shutdowns for both vehicles and pedestrians on December 11. However, by the morning of December 12 at 10:10 a.m., officials announced that some bridges had reopened.

Bridges Reopened

  • Wells Ave

  • Williams Ave

  • Houser Way Bridge

Still Closed

  • Nile Ave NE Bridge, which is expected to remain closed through the weekend.

Earlier updates confirmed that Houser Way Bridge had temporarily closed the night before but was reopened by the next morning.

City officials say additional closures may occur as water levels continue to be evaluated. Residents are encouraged to monitor the city’s emergency information page for real-time updates.

Authorities urge the public to use caution, follow posted detours, and avoid flooded areas.
