Kent, WA | Dec 12:
Kent Parks, Recreation & Community Services has issued a Parks & Trails Alert due to continued excessive rainfall impacting multiple parks and trails across the city. Officials urge residents to follow posted closure signs and avoid walking or biking around barricades for safety reasons.

The department confirmed that the 2025 Christmas Rush 5K/10K has been cancelled. Authorities will continue to provide updates as conditions improve and facilities reopen.

Park Closures (as of Dec 12):

  • Lake Fenwick Park – Lower boardwalk on Lake Fenwick Trail

  • Riverview Park

  • Lake Meridian Park Boat Launch & Parking Lot (reassessment on Monday)

  • Riverbend Golf Complex – 18-hole course

  • Old Fishing Hole

  • Briscoe Park

  • Mill Creek Canyon Earthworks Park (high pond levels; possible overflow)

Trail Impacts:

  • PSE Trail – Standing water in several areas; use caution

  • Green River Trail – Closed at multiple flooded underpasses including:

    • 212th Bridge

    • Meeker Bridge

    • Washington Bridge

    • 167 HWY Bridge

    • Central Ave Bridge

Officials warn that conditions may change or worsen at any time. For road closures and flooding updates, residents are advised to follow the City of Kent Government channels or visit KentWA.gov/Flooding.
