USACity of Kent Encourages Residents to Prepare Homes for Winter Weather

Kent, WA — As winter weather approaches, the City of Kent is urging residents to take steps now to prepare their homes and reduce the risk of weather-related damage.

City officials shared a winter preparedness checklist to help homeowners and renters stay safe and avoid costly repairs. Recommended actions include clearing debris from storm drains and gutters, insulating pipes and outdoor faucets, and repairing any roof leaks before heavy rain or snow arrives.

Residents are also advised to ensure heaters, furnaces, and chimneys are in proper working condition, check and replace batteries in carbon monoxide and smoke detectors, inspect door seals, and prepare for potential snow removal needs.

The city emphasizes that taking these preventative steps can help protect homes, improve safety, and minimize disruptions during winter storms.
