Seattle police detectives are investigating a double homicide that occurred Tuesday afternoon in South Seattle.
Just before 4 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting near Rainier Avenue South and South Henderson Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult males suffering from apparent fatal gunshot wounds.
Police rendered emergency medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived and assumed care. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by SFD personnel.
According to police, the suspect fled the area on foot prior to officers’ arrival. A search of the surrounding area by officers and deputies did not locate the suspect.
The scene was secured as homicide detectives and the Seattle Police Department’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit processed the area for evidence.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the deceased and will determine the victims’ identities and causes of death.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
