The Kent Police Department in Kent, Washington will receive approximately $1.92 million in funding aimed at strengthening public safety, supporting officer recruitment, and improving inmate safety at the city’s corrections facility.

According to the City of Kent Government, the funding will be used to hire 20 entry-level police officers, helping the department expand staffing and improve response capabilities across the community.

In addition to new hires, part of the funding will go toward additional training for officers and supervisors, ensuring law enforcement personnel remain well-equipped to handle evolving public safety challenges.

The investment will also support the installation of new medical monitoring technology at the Kent Corrections Facility, designed to enhance the health monitoring of inmates and improve overall safety inside the facility.

City officials say the funding will strengthen policing resources while promoting safer conditions for both officers and those housed within the corrections system.
