Tukwila Opens Applications for 2026 City of Opportunity Scholarship Program

USATukwila Opens Applications for 2026 City of Opportunity Scholarship Program

The City of Tukwila has announced that applications are now open for its 2026 City of Opportunity Scholarship Program, offering financial assistance to residents pursuing undergraduate education at community colleges, trade schools, colleges, and universities.

Established in 2014, the scholarship program aims to support students who demonstrate academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, and financial need. Selection is based on a combination of factors, including academic performance, references, a personal essay, and demonstrated commitment to service.

Applicants must meet several eligibility requirements, including being a resident of Tukwila with valid proof of residency, having a GPA of 2.75 or higher, and demonstrating substantial financial need as indicated by the FAFSA Student Aid Report. Candidates should also have applied to an undergraduate program and completed at least 15 hours of community service. Additionally, applicants must be equivalent to a high school senior and show leadership through extracurricular activities.

The deadline to submit applications is March 31, 2026, with no exceptions. Interested individuals are encouraged to download the application and prepare all required documentation ahead of the deadline.

For more information, applicants can contact Cheryl Thompson, Executive Assistant in the Mayor’s Office, via email at Cheryl.thompson@tukwilawa.gov or by phone at (206) 433-1850.

The scholarship program reflects the city’s ongoing commitment to investing in its residents and supporting educational opportunities for Tukwila’s future leader
