Air India flight AI-379 made an emergency landing at Phuket International Airport in Thailand. There was a report of a bomb being found in the plane, after which the authorities planned an emergency landing of the plane. This plane was coming from Phuket to Delhi.
Kuket Airport activated the Airport Contingency Plan (ACP) immediately after receiving the bomb threat. An official told news agency Reuters that flight AI-379 has landed safely. There were 156 passengers on board the plane. According to flight tracker Flightradar24, the plane took off from Phuket airport for Delhi at 9.30 am (0230 GMT) on Friday but took a big detour around the Andaman Sea and returned to Phuket.
Earlier, an Air India flight going to London was landed back in Mumbai after being in the air for three hours. News agency PTI quoted data from Flightradar24 and said that the flight was going from Mumbai to London and took off at 5.39 am. Air India said in a statement that due to the situation in Iran and the closure of its airspace, many flights are being diverted or are being landed back at their original destinations.
On Thursday, an Air India flight from Ahmedabad to London met with an accident. A few seconds after take-off, the plane collided with the hostel of BJ Hospital. Out of the 242 people on board the plane, 241 people died. Many people present in the hostel also died.
