The US and China clashed on the Ukraine issue at the United Nations on Friday. The US asked China to stop provoking Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, while China said that Washington is trying to provoke a confrontation by blaming others. Acting US Ambassador to the United Nations Dorothy Shea urged all countries to stop exporting dual-use items to Russia, which Washington says are helping Russia in its war effort.

Dual-use items refer to items that can be used in war as well as civilian use. Xia made this request, specifically naming China. Shea said in a meeting of the 15-member United Nations Security Council held on the Ukraine issue, drones used by Russia against Ukraine The seizure of Chinese-made components in weapons and vehicles has shattered Beijing’s claim to enforce export controls on dual-use goods.

China’s deputy UN ambassador Geng Shuang hit back, saying China did not start the war in Ukraine. It is not a party to the conflict and has never provided lethal weapons. It has always strictly controlled dual-use materials, including the export of drones. He said, we urge the US to stop blaming or creating confrontation on the Ukraine issue and instead play a more constructive role in promoting ceasefire and peace talks.
