DubaiBad news for Indians, Pakistanis living in Dubai as no visa renewal for residents of Dubai without paying

In a major development concerning Dubai residents, the city will not issue or renew residency visas to expats who have not settled their outstanding traffic fines. The pilot project launched by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in coordination with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), mandates Dubai residents to clear all outstanding traffic fines before renewing or applying for a residency visa.

As per reports, the new rule, which is being rolled out gradually across the UAE city, will apply to any Dubai resident who is residing in the country on a residency visa. Residents must clear all their traffic fines before applying for a renewal or a new residency visa. Officials say the move is not aimed to impose restrictions, but to “reinforce accountability and encourage lawful conduct among residents.”

According to authorities, resident who have unpaid traffic fines, have the option to pay the entire amount in a single installment, or choose a flexible installment plan, as per their financial situation.
