The IPL has taken disciplinary action against Lucknow bowler Digvesh Singh Rathi and Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Abhishek Sharma. Rathi has been banned for one match and fined 50 per cent of his match fee. While Abhishek Sharma has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee.

Abhishek is the first player to be banned for one match this season. He will now not be able to play for his team Lucknow Super Giants in the match against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on May 22. This action has been taken against both of them due to the argument that took place during the match played in Lucknow on May 19.

Actually, during the match, during the Sunrisers innings, Abhishek Sharma lost his wicket while trying to play a big shot on the third ball of the eighth over. Digvesh bowled the ball outside the off stump. Abhishek played a shot on the cover and Shardul Thakur took a brilliant catch. After the dismissal, Digvesh Rathi did a notebook celebration and showed Abhishek Sharma the way out.

After this Abhishek returned and an argument started between the two. Then the umpire intervened and stopped both of them Rathi has had to pay fines several times in IPL 2025 due to his ‘notebook celebration’. For the first time, he was fined for this celebration in the match against Punjab Kings on April 1. Along with this, he also got a demerit point.
