Seattle police detectives are investigating a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred early this morning on the West Seattle Bridge.
At approximately 1:57 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a crash on the 1st Avenue South off-ramp from the bridge. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male motorcyclist deceased on the ground below the overpass.
The Seattle Fire Department responded and confirmed the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area was secured as detectives from the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) began processing evidence and examining the crash site.
Preliminary findings indicate the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on the West Seattle Bridge when he struck a guardrail while exiting onto the off-ramp. The rider was ejected over the railing and landed on the sidewalk below, suffering fatal injuries.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the official cause and manner of death.
