Gita Gopinath, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has resigned from her post. She announced that she wants to return to Harvard University. Geeta Gopinath of Indian origin was born on 8 December 1971 in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. However, her parents belonged to Kannur, Kerala. She did her early schooling from Nirmala Convent School in Mysore, Karnataka. After completing her schooling, she did BA Honors in Economics from Lady Shriram College, Delhi University. After this, she did her MA in Economics from Delhi School of Economics. Then she went to America. She did her PhD from Princeton University in Washington in 1996-2001.

Geeta played an important role in getting the world out of economic recession during the Corona pandemic. She gave information on how to work towards achieving the target of vaccination during the Corona pandemic. Based on his work plan, the IMF, World Bank, WTO and World Health Organization together formed a multilateral task force, after which problems ranging from vaccine production to its distribution were resolved.
