IndiGo flight from Delhi to Srinagar was caught in bad weather. The plane was hit by disturbance in mid-air, after which the pilot informed the Air Traffic Control in Srinagar about the emergency. Officials said that the plane later landed safely here. There were more than 200 people on board the IndiGo plane. Trinamool Congress MPs Nadeem Ul Haq, Sagarika Ghose and Manas Bhuiyan were also on board the IndiGo plane.
An Airports Authority of India official said here that IndiGo flight 6E2142 from Delhi to Srinagar encountered bad weather (hailstorm) following which the pilot reported the emergency to ATC SXR (Srinagar).
He said the plane landed safely in Srinagar at 6.30 pm. He said all aircrew and 227 passengers are safe and the airline has declared the plane as AOG. ‘Aircraft on Ground’ (AOG) refers to an aircraft that is on the ground due to technical problems and is unable to fly.
According to the information received, the weather in the valley suddenly deteriorated this afternoon. An Indigo flight 6E2142, VT-IMD, was coming to Srinagar from Delhi this evening. There were 227 passengers on board the plane. While it was in the sky over Srinagar Airport, it encountered problems due to hailstorm and strong winds and the pilot asked ATC Srinagar to declare an emergency.
