The lunar mission of Japan’s private space company Ispace has suffered another setback. Its lander crashed while attempting to land on the surface of the moon on Friday. This company’s lunar mission also failed in 2023. This was its first attempt.
The Tokyo-based Ispace company declared the mission a failure several hours after contact with the lander was lost (Ispace Lander Crash). Contact was lost two minutes before the scheduled time for landing on the moon.
The company’s CEO and founder Takeshi Hakamada apologized to everyone who contributed to the mission and said this was Ispace’s second lunar mission that failed. Along with the lander named ‘Resilience’, it also took home a rover to collect soil from the lunar surface and a toy of a Swedish artist.
The company officials have not yet clarified the reasons for the mission failure. They have only said that it is too early to tell about the problems. Two years ago, the company’s first lunar mission also crashed during landing.
