Kent, Washington — June 19, 2026
The City of Kent and the Kent Police Department announced the closure of city offices and public facilities on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
According to city officials, Kent City Hall, the Centennial Center, the Kent Commons, and the Senior Activity Center are closed for the holiday. The Kent Police Department also confirmed that its public lobby is closed for the day.
While administrative offices are closed, emergency police services remain available through 911, and essential public safety operations continue uninterrupted.
Juneteenth, observed annually on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and is recognized as a federal and state holiday. Communities across Washington and the nation mark the occasion with educational programs, cultural events, and celebrations honoring African American history and freedom.
Residents are encouraged to check with city departments regarding service schedules and office reopening times following the holiday.
