Kent Police officers arrested a domestic violence suspect after locating a stolen vehicle and discovering an ongoing domestic violence incident at an apartment in Kent.
The investigation began when a 911 caller reported a stolen vehicle. Officers discovered that the suspect was subject to a no-contact order involving the caller. After locating the vehicle, officers contacted the victim, who confirmed that the suspect was inside her apartment.
A Kent Field Training Officer and partner subsequently found the suspect in a bedroom with one of the children. When officers attempted to arrest him, he refused to cooperate, prompting them to contact a hostage negotiator.
After approximately two hours of negotiations, the suspect surrendered peacefully. No one was injured, and he was taken into custody.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including Assault 2nd Degree, Residential Burglary, Domestic Violence, Felony Order Violation and Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Permission 2nd Degree.
Kent Police emphasized the importance of reporting domestic violence and encouraged victims to seek help through 911, the National Domestic Violence Hotline and local support organizations.
