Authorities in Kent are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening on the city’s West Hill.

According to the Kent Police Department, officers responded around 9:27 p.m. on May 12, 2026, to reports of a shooting at a residence in the 27100 block of 31st Avenue South.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult males suffering from gunshot wounds, both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary information from a witness indicates that a 48-year-old man allegedly shot his 70-year-old father before taking his own life. Authorities believe both individuals resided at the home where the incident occurred.

Detectives have launched a homicide investigation to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Officials noted that, based on current information, there is no ongoing threat to the public.
