After Sonam’s arrest in the Indore couple case of Raja Raghuvanshi, her father Devi Singh has now given a statement. He has accused the police in this case and said that the police are making false claims about his daughter.
Sonam Raghuvanshi’s father Devi Singh says, my daughter is innocent. I trust my daughter. She cannot kill her husband. Devi Singh further said, ‘Their marriage happened with the consent of both the families. The Meghalaya government has been lying from the beginning. My daughter came to a dhaba in Ghazipur last night and called her brother. The police went to the eatery and took him away from there. I have not been able to speak to my daughter. Why would my daughter do this (kill her husband)? The Meghalaya police are lying. My daughter reached Ghazipur on her own’.
Sonam’s father further said, ‘She was not arrested in Meghalaya. We were thinking of meeting the Madhya Pradesh CM and the then Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanding a CBI inquiry. The Meghalaya police are fabricating stories. Let the CBI investigation begin, all the officers of the police station (in Meghalaya) will be behind bars.’
Sonam and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi, a resident of Indore, went missing on May 23 after visiting the Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Shillong’s Nongriat village. Raja’s body was found on June 2. Sonam had been missing since then.
