Reports: Trump’s policy is costing America heavily, the number of Indian students going to US has fallen by 70%

USAReports: Trump's policy is costing America heavily, the number of Indian students going to US has fallen by 70%

Ever since Donald Trump came to power for the second time, the rules regarding immigration and visas have been tightened in the US. Visas of many students who want to go to the US are being cancelled and this has increased both worry and surprise among Indian students.

Last year, more than 3.3 lakh students from India went to America. But now a big drop is being seen in this figure. It is believed that there may be a decline of 70 to 80 percent in the number of Indian students going to America. The biggest reason for this is the restriction of visa appointment slots and visa rejection. According to the Times of India, Sanjeev Rai of Hyderabad Overseas Consultants said that this is the worst situation in the past years. Students are refreshing the portal every day in the hope of a slot opening up.

Usually by this time, students have completed their visa interview and are preparing for departure. Many students are also turning to other countries in view of the difficulties being faced in getting visa appointments and processing from the US embassy. Ankit Jain of Window Overseas Education Consultancy said that there are many students who have booked the slots but have not received confirmation.

According to Arvind Manduwa of i20 Fever Consultancy, there can be a decline of up to 80 percent in the number of students going to America this year. There are many students who have even completed the visa interview process, But now they are facing rejection. Most people are saying that section 214B is the reason behind this.
