Seattle police arrested a 52-year-old man early this morning in the Chinatown-International District after discovering he was carrying a knife and had an outstanding assault warrant.
At approximately 1:20 a.m., a patrol officer observed the suspect in the 600 block of 5th Avenue attempting to conceal what appeared to be a fixed-blade knife in a makeshift sheath on his hip. The man reportedly tried to hide the weapon while walking away from officers.
Police detained the individual for questioning and confirmed he had an active $5,000 warrant for assault. He was taken into custody and additionally charged with furtively carrying a dangerous weapon.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail. Detectives from the General Investigations Unit are now handling the case.
