Seattle, WA — Seattle police arrested an 18-year-old man on Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly attacked a woman and attempted to stab multiple people at Hing Hay Park in the Chinatown-International District.

According to police, officers responded just before 4:00 p.m. on May 5 to reports of a fight involving weapons in the 400 block of Maynard Avenue South. When they arrived, they detained the suspect and launched an investigation.

Authorities say the suspect approached a group of people asking about fentanyl. After being told to leave, he briefly walked away but returned shortly after carrying a knife and an improvised weapon described as a chain and metal bracket.

Police report that he attempted to stab individuals in the group, forcing them to retreat. He then allegedly targeted a 27-year-old woman, threatening her and trying to strike her with the weapons. She managed to avoid serious harm with help from nearby community members who intervened until officers arrived.

Investigators also said the same victim reported being assaulted by the same individual a few days earlier near Third Avenue South and Yesler Way. That incident remains under investigation.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail on suspicion of assault. The case is identified as Incident Number 2026-124845.
