The Kanwariyas who were returning to Bilsanda in Pilibhit after taking water from Kachla created a ruckus in front of Bhuta police station. Accusing a car rider of breaking the Kaanvad by hitting the car, they vandalized the car. He said that the car rider was calling himself a Brahmin and threatening to teach a lesson if he passed through Churra village. It was alleged that the accused had said that he would skin all the Kanwariyas. This further increased the anger of the Kanwariyas.
The police somehow pacified the Kanwariyas by convincing them, but the Kanwariyas, adamant on taking action, sat outside the police station for several hours. Several videos of vandalism in the car are being circulated on the internet media. On Sunday morning around 8:30 a.m. a group of 51 devotees from Bilsanda of Pilibhit were returning. Everyone had to perform Jalabhishek at Madonna Baba’s Shiv temple in Bilsanda. Mahant Rajeev, who was part of the Kanwar group, said that a speeding car coming from Bareilly hit the Kavad of a Kanwariya in the group some distance before Bhuta. Due to which it broke.
It is alleged that when he protested against this, the car driver, claiming to be a Brahmin, threatened him saying that he was showing a stick to a Brahmin. We will not say anything here, but come and meet me in Churra. When the Kanwariyas asked what will you do there, the accused said that as soon as we enter the village, we will get everyone’s skin peeled off. This made all the Kanwariyas furious. The Kanwariyas attacked the car.
They started throwing bricks and stones. Seeing the attack, the car driver left the car and fled from the spot. Police reached the spot after getting information and took the car in their custody and parked it in the police station. The Kanwadis allege that they sat for several hours but did not get justice. However, the police explained the matter to the people and sent them back. Many videos of this entire incident are being circulated rapidly on the internet media.
