Amid the tariff war, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump have had a phone conversation. The phone call took place at Trump’s request, Xinhua news agency said, without giving details about the leaders’ conversation. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Recently, an agreement has been reached between the two countries to reduce the trade war. Last month, both countries had decided to reduce the reciprocal tariff imposed on each other by 115 percent for the next 90 days.
The US had imposed a tariff of 145 percent on goods coming from China, which has now been reduced to 30 percent for 90 days. China had imposed a tariff of 125 percent on American goods, which has been reduced to only 10 percent.
