Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and women cricketer Smriti Mandhana have been honoured with the Wisden Cricketers Almanack 2025.
Bumrah has been declared the best cricketer in the male category and Mandhana in the women’s category. The award for the best T20 cricketer has been given to West Indies wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran.
The Wisden Cricketer of the Year award is the oldest individual award in cricket. Wisden has been releasing this list every year since 1889, the selection of which is done on the basis of performance in the previous season. No player can win this award more than once.
Smriti Mandhana has been ranked as the best female player in the world by Wisden. She scored 1659 runs in all formats in 2024, which is the most runs scored by a female player in a calendar year of international cricket. This includes four centuries in ODIs. Mandhana scored her second Test century (149) in a 10-wicket win over South Africa in June last year.
