IPL 2025 Suspended: IPL has been postponed mid-season before as well

SPORTS & BUSINESSIPL 2025 Suspended: IPL has been postponed mid-season before as well

The tension between India and Pakistan is increasing these days. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was postponed on Friday due to the increasing military confrontation. A BCCI official said that it would not be appropriate to continue the tournament in the current situation.

A BCCI official told PTI, “It doesn’t look good that cricket is going on when there is a war going on in the country.” However, information has come from the IPL that the 18th season has been postponed for 7 days.

IPL started in 2008. Since then, it has happened many times that either the league had to be postponed or it was organized outside the country. Only the second season of IPL was held in South Africa. Actually, due to the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, it was decided to hold the league outside the country. To avoid a clash between the dates of elections and IPL, the league was played in South Africa.

After 2009, Lok Sabha elections were held in 2014. In such a situation, once again there was a clash between the dates of the league and the elections. The 7th season of the league was organized in the United Arab Emirates and India. The first 20 matches of IPL 2009 were played in the United Arab Emirates. After this, the remaining matches were held in India.
